Fall is a time of crips mornings and warm afternoons followed by cool nights by the fire. It truly is one of the best times of year! BUT it can be hard to know what to wear. Our advice, stick to 3 simple rules...
1) Layer - Layering your outfit can help keep you comfortable all day no matter the temp. Our go-to layering pieces -> Flannel shirt, denim jacket, light sweatshirt, button up blouses, long sleeve knit top, chunky sweaters and sweater vest.
2) If it fits, feels good, and makes you smile, wear it!
3) No need for an occasion- refer to #2 :)
Got other ideas? We'd love to hear them! Tell us you favorite layering piece in the comments for a chance to win a coffee on us!
Happy Shopping, Friends!
Father's Day is this Sunday, June 19th. A day of celebration for the paternal bond and honoring fatherhood. And although we may be a women's boutique, we have to say thank you to the man who has helped the most and is the behind-the-scenes guy to most of our ideas coming to life.
His name is Ben Ramey, and he is the husband of Kimberly Ramey, the owner.
Ben grew up in Rabun County and was always been a man's man- doing all the manly things like playing football, hunting and fishing.
Then he met Kim and fell hard to this cute redhead.
They got married May 30, 2015... and had a daughter on December 7, 2016 named Wylder Jane. Silo Rose came August 28, 2018 followed by Roux Louise on April 26, 2020. So the bearded man became a girl dad... and has easily stepped into the role wholeheartedly.
As Kim's best friend, I wouldn't let her marry just any guy, but when I met Ben, I knew he was perfect for her and would love her as much as I do. (Because he's basically the male version of me... we share a lot of the same opinions 😉). And then I saw him transition into a dad, and how he would do anything for all his girls, warms my heart for my best friend. I'm so happy for the family Kim and Ben have created and honored to be a part of the journey.
Schoooool is out. for. summer! With the pandemic behind us, we can finally travel and spend time with friends and family. The summer sun is calling us to go outside and enjoy all that Nature has to offer. And what is better than a FREE outdoor concert? On the first Friday of each month from June to October, Clayton Merchants and Business Association (CMBA) presents on a free concert on the historic Rock House lawn, which is located on Main Street, Clayton, GA. Music starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. And you are right in the midst of shopping, eating and strolling to your heart's content! Free music along with the beautiful view of Screamer Mountain is guaranteed to be a good time, and donations are welcome as each month a local non-profit receives the contributions.
This past Friday was the jumping off point for the concert series with the Southern Highland Music Foundation (some of the Foxfire guys and gal) playing to great turnout. The donations went to the Foxfire Museum (fittingly). The next concert is July 1st with Krystal Halvorson, which will be 4th of July weekend, is sure to be entertaining for all.
So if you happen to be in town that day, swing by one of our fantastic restaurants and order some To-Go food. Then stroll around downtown, checking out all the fabulous shops on Main Street (and you might as well pop in and see us since you're in the neighborhood ☺️), til your order is ready. You can bring your own chairs, but if you happen to forget yours, there are some provided too- first come, first serve. Then you grab your food and head over to the Rock House for a DIY "dinner and a show." Not telling you what to do, but it does sound like a lovely evening.
It's that time of year where graduation is in full swing! Rylee is the newest addition to our CFB team, but in a short amount of time, she has proved her worth in her wonderful work ethic and her ability to adapt to any situation we throw her in with a smile. Rylee works as a sales associate and cashier, but has filled in several times as a model and killed it! She is intuitive and works hard to fill any need that may arise. She is a rare find, and we are honored and thrilled to have her kind smile and sunny disposition at Cage-Free Boutique! The past couple of years have definitely been a trying time for any student, but to persevere in the face of adversity has prepared these kids to succeed no matter what obstacles they may face.
I asked Rylee to share with us her feelings on her first big step into adulthood, and this is what she had to say:
It’s fun to hate something you’ll miss when it’s gone, and that something is my high school experience. I’m Rylee Sweat, and I’m a senior at Stephens County High School. I am a varsity cheerleader, an honor student, and I work part-time with Cage-Free Boutique. The past four years have been one of my favorite journeys, and I’ve learned so much about the world, myself, and all that life has to offer.
I’ve been waiting for graduation day for as long as I can remember, thinking that the world would surely end before the year 2022. As I obviously progress, it is now May 2022, and I wish nothing more than for time to stand still. “Big-girl” life is intimidating, even after anticipation and preparation. I was told throughout high school that they were working to prepare me for life outside of my small hometown, but I truly believe that it was life outside of school that shaped me into preparing for this new chapter.
Working at Cage-Free Boutique brought me a much deeper sense of life outside of school assignments and study-crunching. I’ve learned that small talk is more than a hello and goodbye, and a simple smile can change someone’s day. But most importantly I’ve learned to become a creative and determined person. The ladies at Cage-Free are a true image of how powerful and brilliant women can be, and I’ve gained a great amount of courage working here.
With this, I’m ready to step headfirst into the “big-girl” world, grasping everything that I’ve learned the past four years.
Graduation is scary and exciting because it signals the transition from adolescence to adulthood. And that first big step can be daunting, but we hope you remember to be confident in how amazing you are and how radiantly beautiful your personality is to others. As you turn a new chapter in your life and enter the large, diverse world, there is only one "you" and no matter where you end up, share your sparkle with world, and life will never be dull. Rylee, you are a joy to be around, and we know that you will succeed at anything you try! Congratulations on entering the "Big-Girl" world, and where we may sad to see you leave us, we can't wait to see where you go! It has been an honor and pleasure to know you, sweet girl! The world is yours to conquer!
